What is the best ergonomic mouse on the market for the elimination of wrist pain and strain? Let's assume cost isn't the greatest factor...(strain prevention overriding). I spend a good amount of time in front of the computer, and have found that split ergonomic keyboards are really effective in preventing stress in the wrists. Unfortunately, I've been much less successful in finding the perfect mouse. I had been using a Logitech Ergonomic Trackball Mouse, and that hadn't helped; my wrist and the nerves in some of my fingers are still very sore. I recently purchased one of their non-track ball ergonomic wireless mice--which is definitely better (and really cool), but also not 100% effective. Is there a mouse out there that completely alleviates the wrist strain, and best prevents the onset of, or accomodates those who suffer from carpal tunnel?

Thanx. btw i need this for a presentation thats due tomorrow for computer science class i had 3 weeks to do it. haha oh well. *A good answer will be "getting best answer"
Ergonomic Mouse Question? I use the computer a lot, and sometimes I get cramps in the middle of my hand. I was thinking of getting an ergonomic mouse, but one that is not too deformed or strange. I was thinking of getting this one http://www.amazon.com/Kensington-Wired-Ergonomic-Styling-K72326US/dp/B0014IUVVK/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1261928602&sr=1-12 It says it has ergonomic styling. Do you think it will work?
an ergonomic mouse for ring finger & little finger? I've had my logitech MX520 for years now, great ergonomic mouse, real easy on my wrist. However as much as it is round and comfortable on my wrist, I find that my ring and little finger are getting more and more paralysis because they are always crammed together under my middle finger and never moves, and i only need to use index and middle finger to do all the clicking. Now my left hand ring and little fingers are noticeably more flexible than my right hand ring and little finger (i use mouse with my right hand), I am getting more and more concerned about my two fingers, and I want to know if there is a good mouse out there that's also easy on those two fingers. preferably a well known brand such as Microsoft, Logitech etc
Left handed ergonomic mouse? I'm currently searching for a new, modestly priced mouse, to replaced my 3 button, 10 year old, trackball mouse, and there seem to be so many awesome 7 button mouses that do anything and everything. The only problem is they are shaped for people who intend to use their right hand on the computer, and I'm left handed... do you guys know of any mouses that are either ergonomically neutral or made to fit the shape of your left hand? If the mouse is also offered on newegg.com that would be great.

Is there any way to get the mac keyboard to perform a mouse click? I've been trying all sorts of ways to deal with the hand pain using a mouse induces in me. I've tried ergonomic mice, trackballs and using my left hand instead (gives me a sore shoulder!) with no joy. My latest idea would be if i could move the cursor with the mouse and click using a keyboard key, as it's the click and dragging action that causes most discomfort. Anyone have any idea how I could make this happen on my mac? Thanks.
Can you get a wireless mouse to work without the usb part? I got a 3m ergonomic mouse that is wireless but dont have the usb piece to receive the signal. can i still use the mouse some way or get the right usb receiver. i also have a built in bluetooth system in my computer, so i was hoping that maybe there could be a solution there.
Why are ergonomic mouses so expensive? I reckon i'm coming down with RSI from the terrible design of the standard mouse. I looked on ebay and the alternatives are so pricey! I don't want to become crippled both physically and financially!

What's the best/ergonomic mouse to use to prevent arthritis? I've been using the Logitech G7 mouse for sometime now, and although I do love it. I feel that there probably is a better mouse out there that would induce less pain to my hand. My middle finger knuckle and ring finger knuckle is mainly where I the feel pain... and now I'm feeling limited movement there as well. I'm sure someone out there has had some similar issues... what do you recommend I use? I'm only 25 years old, and I can't see myself not using a mouse. I notice that when using my mouse, my ring finger and pinky dips down a lot, due to the slope of mouse and the fact there is nothing to support that side of the hand. Most mice out there are like that, and I honestly feel this has a lot to do with why I'm having the pains. I'm having trouble finding a mouse that supports the entire hand, rather than just the area surrounding the thumb, index and middle finger.
Needed: a good, ergonomic replacement for a computer mouse, due to strain? Though I have not been to the doctor for this, and it's mostly healed with rest, it is sure that the muscles I use for the mouse are sore (also, weeding and heavy rock removal hurt!) So, without spending $100.00 plus for the vertical mouse, is there a good option? Is there a plug-in that works like the little screen on a laptop, where you just draw with your finger? And, is that any better for people with chromnic strain?
What is a good ergonomic device to help with my shoulder problems due to computer use? I am experiencing extreme shoulder and upper back pain from using my mouse. This has lasted 5 years. I get physical therapy, I feel better, but when I use a computer mouse I experience extreme muscle spasms and strains in my shoulder. What ergonomic device should I buy that would ease the strain on my shoulder, back and arm? I bought an adjustable armrest but that just causes the pectoral in my chest to be irritated.
Help me choose a mouse and keyboard? I currently have the regular 2 button corded mouse and a keyboard that came with my Dell. The mouse is not ergonomic at all, it squeeks, and it's not the smoothest mouse in the world. The keyboard has soft keys and not a whole lot of feedback. Can you help me choose the best corded mouse out there and do you know of any keyboard where the keys have better feedback.

I want to be able to use all the features on both the keyboard and the mouse, such as the extra button both of them have. Could anyone advise me please? Thanks E1 for your asnwers! You helped a lot!

Strange mouse request? I am in need of a new mouse for work as i am finding the very old and no ergonomic mouse a pain to use, plus the rollerball is picking up loads of dust due to where i work. We purchased a cheap mouse to found that the wire was to short. Does anyone know of a mouse that is comfortable to use (preferably from Microsoft or Logitech) that has a long wire. It can be USB or PS2 connection Before i get 100 messages telling me to use a wireless mouse, I don't want to get one as the batteries will be expensive for me and i don't want a base station so it needs to be wired (plus it improves reliability) Any help would be greatly appreciated

Yesterday, I bought this pretty looking Logitech V550. It hurt my hand while using it . Is it Ergonomic? Help!? So, Yesterday I went to this electronics shop in anticipation of buying a cool and new mouse for my laptop. While I was searching for a nice mouse, I this pretty Logitech V550 caught my eye. It looked awesome with it's tiny usb. The price was a little high bu I told my self, why buy something if you're not going to, buy the right thing. So I bought it. When I came home, I was so excited. I immediately did the necessary things. When I tried using it, after a few hours, It hurt my hand so bad that I werent able to move my it. I tried giving it to my friends and they told me that this mouse wasnt ergonomic. I was devastated. I tried over and over but my hand wouldnt stop hurting. My right ring and pinky fingers really hurt. So I decided to make some research from the internet but couldnt find anything. I dont know what to do. The store wont take it back, they have such a policy. It's really cool looking, but my hand REALLY hurts!
Do any pro gamers use trackballs instead of mice? I am interested in trying a trackball because I have heard how they are more ergonomic than mice and require less movement. I am wondering whether any pro gamers use trackballs rather than mice or if they are a disadvantage specifically for fps.
Should I buy an air mouse? For the past 5 years, I have been experiencing severe back spasms due to constant reaching for my mouse. I have bought ergonomic devices but those have not helped. These air mice look promising. Although I have heard rumors that the mouse pointer on screen does not always align with the device being waived in the air. I hear it always need to be "reset." Is this true? Are air mice worth buying? The logitech one looks good. Does anyone else have any specific recommendations of air mice to buy if they are worth buying? Thank you so much.
17 year old getting RSI from using a computer mouse? I think I'm getting RSI in my wrist and forearm from using my mouse. Its vital that I use computers for my education, jobs ect and I'm only 17.It worries me as RSI is apparently serious if left untreated.I bought a new mouse, a more ergonomic one which I'll get for Christmas this year.Should I go to the doctor about this? The use of my wrist is essential for my futur career as an art teacher,as I love to read, write, draw, paint, use my laptop etc etc.Using a laptop pad/mouse thing doesn't help at all. What should I do?

Quality Wireless Mouse? I am looking for a quality wireless mouse that's both affordable and ergonomic. In affordable I mean less than $30. I would like a mouse that's larger than size (the logitech vx nano is on the small side), designed to fit your hand (such as the logitech mx revolution and the microsoft wireless laser 7000), but not, of course, too expensive. Any suggestions? Thanks! I just want suggestions. It would be great if you gave me a specific model, mouse, etc.
Has my "mouse" given me arthritis? OK, In the grand scheme of things, this is not a major problem, but my "mouse finger" is starting to pop and hurt after even a few hours of computer work. I am a freelance health writer and actually do work on my computer besides contribute to Y/A...LOL. Has anyone encountered this problem, and how are you dealing with it? Any ergonomic changes you have found that help ease the symptoms. We never learned about "mouse arthritis" in nurses' training.
A wireless bluetooth capable mouse? I'm fed up with my "mighty mouse" for my imac...the scroller has broken down so many times, and I've had to replace it twice. I'm looking for a similar mouse with bluetooth, and something that will not require a usb port, also more ergonomic. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Why does a computer mouse hand get cold? I've seen a lot of questions about cold mouse hands, and it bothers me that there's really no "medical" answer. I'm posting this in the computer section because I think there must be answers out there that make sense. I am looking at a computer gadget called MOUSE HAND WARMER. I heard it works and keeps the mouse hand warm, but I want to know why my hand gets so cold. I tried a WARMING MOUSE, but it wasn't ergonomic and then I had a sore mouse hand, too. The MOUSE HAND WARMER blanket makes sense because I can use my large ergo shaped mouse inside. What are your thoughts? I need some computer geeks' answers! Thanks.

How do I recover from tendonitis and get the painful symptoms under control? Is there a support group ....? I have painful tendonitis symptoms in my right wrist caused due to repetitive typing and mousing. I have tried everything from ergonomic evaluation, to physical therapy but the symptoms keep coming back. Sometimes it gets so debilitating that I even have trouble holding the steering wheel. I am really really desperate to get better, to not have the tenderness and burning sensation, be able to play tennis again , to indulge in all the activities I used to........ Any tips/suggestions are more than welcome. If there is a support group for people like me in the bay are, please please do let me know
Help! Hand pain due to using computer and hold mouse all day long...? Help! Hand pain due to using computer and hold mouse all day long... My work requires me to work on computer 14+ hours a day. Holding on to the mouse all day and all night is really painful. Now I feel that my right hand cannot move naturally. I cannot hold other things comfortably. Although it still works and it still moves. But there is some pain inside my right hand and esp. the ankle. I blame the stupid mouse and also my laptop has only a pad. I need to do something to save my hand before it completely breaks down. I googled and there are a huge variety of ergonomic stuff on earth. But I really need some great advice and recommendations. I want to find a solution that can permanently solve my hand pain. I imagine that's something I should do with the mouse, the keyboard and the position. I want some solution that definitely works. In the past I tried a few things but they didn't work wonders. Thanks!
Anyone know of a keyboard with the command key near the function keys? For work I'm using a program that requires me to push apple (or command) and the function keys - the other hand on the mouse. My hands are smaller and the reach is killing my hand after a few hours. Anyone have any ideas for an alternate keyboard? I don't think an ergonomic keyboard will help since the reach is still the same between function-control.
Pains during computer use!!? I am a computer enthusiast and i have recently started having pain in my fingers, wrist, elbow, shoulder. When i use the computer i always have these pains. I am now ordering an ergonomic mouse since it is the mouse clicking that is most likely causing the problem. Can anyone give me a heads up on this thanks.

weird muscle cramps... is it serious? for the last month or so i've been having really strange muscle issues. the strangest part is that its only on the right side of my body. in my eye lid: it doesn't twitch (though it does sometimes, but someone told me that's normal), but i get really weird pressure on my upper right eyelid. almost like someone's trying to press down on my eye ball at the top of my eyelid. in my thumb joint: on this one i think it's from the "ergonomic" mouse. because frequently my thumb cramps up and locks into a position where it almost fits perfectly to the mouse i use. mouse: http://www.trustedreviews.com/images/article/inline/9870-img8054s.jpg in my leg/calf: i get small little twitches that sometimes don't go away. but if i shake my leg intentionally, it will make it go away for a little while. but sometimes it will continue on and off for about a half hour before its gone for a longer time. in my foot/toes: i get the same twitching on the sides of my foot near the arch. and my toes frequently (and at this moment coincidentally) have a sharp tingling sensation. and often feel like they are cramping or curling up. and i see very little physical changes when i have those feelings. i try to compare my toes on my other foot and the troubling toes look fine. again this is all on the right side of my body, i haven't had one of these symptoms in my left side. i haven't had any spinal trauma or head trauma. i'm not on any illegal substances, nor do i drink. and i'm being honest, because i'm fairly concerned with this. however, i have been prescribed adderall xr at 40mg in about late january. and i take them daily, at around the same time every morning. my mom hasn't had these problems before, with the muscle issues. and my mom is as far as i can go back in my medical history. she was adopted into her family, and my biological father ran out on us. so my mom is my only known medical history. emails are fine if you want to talk to me further about this. shadowofokp @ yahoo.com

Why won't my usb port adapter work with touchpad? My dell optiplex has two usb ports in front which is good since that way I don't have to reach around to the back to insert a usb drive (it's hard because I have carpal tunnel). My 'ergonomic' keyboard has two plugs--one for the keys, the other for the touch pad. I plugged them into a two to one adapter so I would only have to use one of the ports in front, but only the keyboard works; the mouse pad won't work. So now I have to use both ports just for the keyboard. Now I still have to squeeze behind the computer to get the removable drive in. I finally saved up money for an expensive (for me, anyway) computer and I thought at least I'd get some higher end features. Any ideas? The adapter came without software and said you didn't need any.

Anyone know of a group that SPECIALIZE in people that help solve tendonitis brought about by computer use? My brother works in I.T at a computer for 7+ hours a day. He had very bad tendonitis, and still gets it, but now to a lesser degree. He has already got the ergonomic desk, monitor angle and specialist vertical mice/keyboard, powerball etc but it has not solved the problem, only lessened it slightly. The standard NHS doctor is not really good enough, he has seen a physical therapist but the exercises haven’t really helped. Can anyone recommend a doctor, physiotherapist, Alexander technique person etc etc etc who SPECIALIZES in working with people that have developed tendonitis as a result of working in I.T/with computers? I want someone that specifically works with people in that field and can offer specialist help that will suit him. Many thanks! All appreciated! C x sixmilliondollarguy - yes? please give details?
Looking for a lap table to use a wireless keyboard and mouse on whilst sitting on the sofa? I have a gaming set up where my PC is plugged into my TV. I'd like to comfortably play games whilst sitting on the sofa but need some kind of board to place a keyboard and mouse on. I'd like it to be as ergonomic as possible because the game sessions could last a couple of hours at a time. There seem to be a number of options being sold across the pond but most (if not all) have not made it to the UK yet. There are some laptop ones being sold in various places but they don't seem wide enough to use a full sized mouse on. Any suggestions would be appreciated, preferably from personal experience! Thanks for all the answers so far. To expand a little given the responses below: 1. I'm in the UK so the ability to buy over here without paying extortionate delivery charges would be good - EU is okay. 2. 3D mouse, while intriguing, is not practical unless I can get a keyboard that also doesn't need a surface to sit on! 3. Keyboard width is 41cm and I reckon I need an additional 15-20cm for the mouse to be comfortable. So an overall width of ~55-60cm would be ideal. 4. I'd prefer not to have a table, something that sits on the lap would be best. 5. Lap trays (i.e. for eating on) tend to have a 'lip' round the outside, which is not going to work. I'm no DIYer, or I would make one myself. :D
